The Muses

Sinuous harmonies with a global beat

Talented, fun, and thoroughly entertaining, the Muses have been engaging audiences with an eclectic musical repertoire since 2001. This three-woman a cappella powerhouse sings an ingenious mix of Celtic, traditional Appalachian, Americana, and World music. Their repertoire covers a wide range and includes original compositions, spirituals, soul numbers, and songs from Scotland and Ireland. The Muses have also been known to draw from the musical traditions of other cultures, with offerings in French, Spanish, Hebrew, and Macedonian. Blending their voices into perfect harmony, the Muses create a rich tapestry of sound. The group often tailors its material to suit the unique nature of each venue or event.

Based in Asheville, North Carolina, the Muses have performed in clubs, festivals, radio stations, and other settings all over Western North Carolina. The release of their first CD, Angel (July 2003), extended their audience base far beyond the borders of their home state. Their long-awaited second release, Celtic Hillbilly Soul (January 2007), is now available for purchase via e-mail and will soon be available online. Meanwhile, the Muses are continually performing locally and accepting bookings throughout the region.
